Happy New Year!

Tomorrow, or today depending when you are reading this, we begin a new year and I cannot think of a better ‘New Year’s Resolution’ than to purpose in our hearts to read through the entire Bible in a year. I never grow tired of the sparkle in a person’s eye when, at the end of a year, the tell me that they just finished reading through the Bible for the first time.

“So great is my veneration for the Bible that the earlier my children begin to read it the more confident will be my hope that they will prove useful citizens of their country and respectable members of society. I have for many years made it a practice to read through the Bible once every year.” John Quincy Adams, 6th President of the United States

I want to personally help you fulfill that resolution by providing you with an opportunity to do just that.

How does it work?

  1. Subscribe to the “Reading the Word” blog by entering your email address in the ‘Follow this blog’ section in the MENU.
  2. Each morning, you will receive an email with the reading for the day along with a short encouragement, application, and prayer for the daily reading.
  3. You will notice with this particular reading plan, that the readings are designated by ‘days’ rather than ‘day of the week’. I have chosen this plan as it gives you a cushion of 5 days, depending on the number of days in the month. One of the greatest discouragements is falling behind. With a little bit of discipline, this reading plan is designed to prevent that.
  4. That’s all there is to it!

My hope and prayer is that you would share any insight, questions, or general comments you may have from your reading. One of the most encouraging parts reading the Bible is the opportunities to share what you have read and the insight the Holy Spirit has given with others.

Looking forward to hearing from you all!

Ron
