“You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, Earns wages to put into a bag with holes.”
Is seems to be the plight of American people today doesn’t it? Jesus changes it all, and not in the way that most people would think. Jesus changes us from the inside out, so that the things we once strived for are no longer our motivation. Serving and loving Him is all we are interested in. I used to pursue riches and now, through faith in Christ, I pursue a different type of riches which will never fade away.
“You looked for much, but indeed it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?” says the Lord of hosts. “Because of My house that is in ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house.
It is so sad how people ignore the things of God to do their own thing. The reality is, that many people’s houses are in disarray because they fail to be attentive the Lord. Jesus said, Matthew 7:24-25, “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘And in this place I will give peace,’ says the Lord of hosts.”
The latter temple is none other than Jesus Christ and He will be far grander than any temple that has ever been built…ever! Speaking of the New Jerusalem that would be established after the destruction of the earth, the apostle John wrote, But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb (Jesus) are its temple.
‘In that day,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘I will take you, Zerubbabel My servant, the son of Shealtiel,’ says the Lord, ‘and will make you like a signet ring; for I have chosen you,’ says the Lord of hosts.”
This is a fascinating verse, speaking of Zerubbabel. When you look at the ancestry if Jesus in the line of Mary (the blood lineage of Jesus, Luke 3:27) and the line of Joseph (the legal lineage of Jesus through Joseph, Matthew 1:12), you see that Zerubbabel is the last person to stand in both of their lines.
So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
In Chapter 17 we read of the Apostate Church, the false church, the false religious system which came upon the scene during the Great Tribulation. At this point the church has been removed and the Antichrist and the false prophet have arrived on the scene and there is, what seems to be a perfect marriage between the political system and this false religious system, both of which will be destroyed.
“Here is the mind which has wisdom:The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits.
It is quite likely that this is speaking of this false religious system coming out of Rome. Why do I say that? Because historically, Rome is know as ‘the city of seven mountains’.
“The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. These are of one mind, and they will give their power and authority to the beast.
It is interesting to watch what is going on with the European Union. One cannot help but think that this union, of which Italy is a part of, will play a significant role in the end times. It could be that the Antichrist will come out of Rome or the European Union. It is fascinating to consider the possibilities.
